Over the next two months, Granada students will have a chance to serve our school community, our neighbors, and children overseas. Here are the planned events (Letter):
- GIS fundraiser (April 29) - Ticket Sale Flyer
- Free E-Waste Recycling Event with Hope Services (May 5) - Flyer
- Walk-a-Thon to raise funds for grass area (May 30)
- Give Light Soul to Sole Shoe Campaign (June 4-8)
Walk-a-Thon (May 30)
GIS will be having a walkathon at school on Wednesday, May 30th. The purpose of the walkathon is to raise money for artificial grass which will cover the area outside of Crescent Cuisine. The artificial turf will beautify the school campus and increase the play area for our children. We are asking for the support of all the parents. Pledge forms have gone home with your student today. Please ask your student to collect pledges from family, friends and neighbors. Pledges may be made as an amount per lap, or may be made as a flat donation.

- Award Ceremony for grades 1-2 (classrooms)
- Award Ceremony for grades 3-5 (Banquet Hall)
Last Day of School - June 15
- Pk - 2nd grade: on-campus activities
- Grades 3-8: school picnic
Graduation - June 21
8th grade graduation ceremony is scheduled on Thursday, June 21 at 6:30pm in the MCA Banquet Hall. Honor Roll awards for grades 6-8 are distributed at the same event.

School Events

Congratulations to Granada Safety Patrol for receiving 3rd place "Best Overall Safety Patrol" Award for 2011-12. Awards were distributed by the Santa Clara Chief of Police during the Award Ceremony on May 17, 2012. Special thanks to safety patrol supervisor, Br. Imran Khan.
Quran Competition
The Quran Competition took place on May 1st (K-4) and May 2nd (gr. 5-8) with 226 participants. in three options:
- Review previously memorized suras
Read with tajweed new sura
Recite from memory new sura

2nd Annual Book Fair - May 21
This book fair will be hosted by Hicklebee's, an award-winning children's book store based in the Bay Area. Do stop by for a chance to help your child access:

- resources to improve academic reading
